A couple of views

We went to the Ritz Carlton for Christmas Lunch... Well what an experience. Someone said they don't allow Christmas trees in Bahrain... Well... not true. Everyone we saw said Merry Christmas to us!!

Our New Home

Well... here goes... We flew out of South Africa on 8th December to join Shelly in the Kingdom of Bahrain. She has been working in Manama since the beginning of October. I had to wait for the girls to finish school and sort out the stuff in SA, hence, the wait.

A sense of sorrow at leaving all of our friends and family behind... love you all.

We arrived in Manama at about 9am (+3GMT) a beautiful day. Shelly was waiting at the airport to pick us up... what a welcome sight she was... I really missed her a lot.

Our place is called a villa, it is basically a large apartment with 3 floors and it is on Amwaj Island. Amwaj is on the north eastern end of the island, it is a man made island with waterways and lagoons in and around it. The co-ordinates are  26°17'36.87"N 50°40'7.79"E for those that are interested. The google earth site is a little out of date for this area, but you get a general idea.

The amount of property development that is going on over here is astounding... every day you wake up, the skyline is different.
